After graduating from Cambridge University, Amanda joined Working Title Films in 1998 where she helped set up their low budget film label WT². There she developed a slate of films for producer Jon Finn and director Stephen Daldry, both of whom she worked with closely on the Oscar nominated Billy Elliot. At the same time she wrote and directed the multi award winning short “Hotel Infinity” and produced the BAFTA nominated “Heavy Metal Drummer”.
ID magazine subsequently picked her as one of 250 people around the world who might influence contemporary culture. She was also named as one of ‘the UK’s most exciting new directors’ by Screen International.
Amanda left Working Title in 2004 and has since won an array of international awards and scholarships for her directing, producing and writing work. Her 2008 short film “Pop Art” won the Audience Award at the Austin Film Festival and a Special Jury Prize for Directing at the Atlanta Film Fest.
Most recently Amanda directed the first, fifth and final episodes of the much publicised 2009 Channel 4 series “Cast Offs” as well as directing on the C4 hit series “Misfits”.
