Directing collective, Conkerco, met at art college. They initially collaborated on graphic design and illustration projects, but soon shifted tack into animation and motion graphics, eventually leading to directing animated music videos, most notably with ‘Flutter’ for NinjaTune and recording artist Bonobo (BAA finalist, 2004)
An insatiable curiosity with all things visual, soon led them to explore the integration of live action and 3D and post effects, which attracted the attention of Academy.
Their work in live action has seen them direct BBC ‘Faces’ (December 2005); Ikea ‘Evolution’ (August 2006); their short film ‘Marjorie Daw’ (2007); a promo for the Live Earth Campaign, which they wrote, entitled ‘An Unfit World’ Live Earth: SOS (2007); and the conceptual work and direction for the on air branding of Virgin 1 (2007).
In 2007, Conkerco showed two films at Cannes Lions. Their Ikea campaign was short listed, and Marjorie Daw had a well-received outing at the Saatchi & Saatchi new director showcase.
Their most recent work includes ongoing campaigns for Homebase, a Motorola spot for Ogilvy and a Sony Ericsson film for McCann.
With a continuous desire to evolve as live action Directors, Conkerco strive hard to enhance their style, giving a new slant on reality, whilst keenly embracing live action as the core of their new work.
