Kim Gehrig Kim Gehrig

Australian born, Kim Gehrig moved to London in 1997 to study at Central St Martins. She had intended to spend 6 months in Europe, but loved it so much she never went back.

Her creative career began at ad agency Mother where she worked for 8 years on campaigns for the likes of Schweppes, Coca-cola, Britart.com, Dr Pepper, Boots, Motorola and Frank (winning her D&AD Gold and Cannes Lions awards as well as recognition as one half of the ‘BOB’ – Best of the Best creative team).

On signing to Academy, Kim’s first commercial as a director was for
Amnesty International and received global acclaim, winning a Silver Cannes Lion, and a ThinkBox Award.

She then directed ‘The Mexican Thumb Wave’ for Lastminute.com, an
epic series of 3×60sec spots, creating a media event that travelled via
remote control across three channels (ITV, C4 and Channel 5).

In 2009 Kim was showcased as a ‘Director To Watch’ in SHOOT magazine’s Spring special and she also won an APA Young Directors Award at Cannes.

More recently she directed a successful viral for Sony twilight
football which received over 2 million hits worldwide in its first month online.

Kim’s impact on the world of music videos has been just as successful. She won an MVA in 2009 for her hugely popular Wiley ‘Cash in my pocket’ video. She has also directed videos for the likes of Calvin Harris, Plan B with Chase & Status, Gomez, Primal Scream and Santogold.
