Kim Gehrig Kim Gehrig

Australian born, Kim Gehrig moved to London in 1997 to study at Central St Martins. She had intended to spend 6 months in Europe, but loved it so much she never went back.

As is often the way with top St Martin graduates Kim was snatched up by advertising immediately on completing her degree. She worked at Mother, the cutting edge east London agency for 8years. As a creative, she won numerous awards (D&AD gold, Cannes Lion included) but despite these accolades, Kim has chosen to buck the trend and move into music video.

She signed to Academy Films in 2006 and has directed videos for the likes of Wiley, Chase and Status with Plan B, Calvin Harris, Gomez, Architecture in Helsinki, Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong, Primal Scream, and Santogold.

Her Wiley ‘Cash in my pocket’ video won a 2009 MVA for Best Urban Video and she was recently the guest director at BUG, the infamous music video night held at the National Film Theatre.

Kim’s first commercial as a director for Amnesty International received
global acclaim and won a Silver Cannes Lion. She then moved on to direct ‘The Mexican Thumb Wave’ for Lastminute.com, an epic series of 3×60sec spots, creating a 1st ever media event that travelled via remote control across 3 channels (ITV, C4 and Channel 5).

In 2009 Kim was showcased as a ‘Director To Watch’ in SHOOT magazine’s Spring special and she also won an APA Young Directors Award at Cannes.

More recently she directed the very successful viral for Sony twilight football which received over 2 million hits worldwide in its first month online.
