After graduating from art school with a degree in film making, Tom moved to London to work for bands, creating live visuals under the name Quixote for the likes of Aphex Twin, Animal Collective, Peaches, Fourtet and many others. At the same time he trained as an editor and quickly started working for the BBC and Channel 4, where he worked on productions in many guises, as both an editor and cameraman.
Continuing to work on personal projects through this time, including his short documentary “Lost at Sea” which was toured by the British Council to festivals, he segued into music videos as a natural development of his art and music background. Subsequent praise for his early work led to a Best New Director nomination at the Cads in 2007.
Tom has built on this early body of work by making striking and unique videos for bands like Tunng, Wild Beasts, and more recently White Denim, which won him the Best Performance Video award on the Antville website. His work has been featured in Creative Review, NME, Promo News and The Guardian.
As well as music videos, Tom has directed two sets of Three Minute Wonders for the Tate and Channel 4, worked with Turner Prize artists for the Tate, and created unique films for the V&A which have all been screened in the galleries and online.
