Academy Films

Academy Films heads UK production companies in the Palme d’Or worldwide top 10

Seb Edwards’ campaign for The Army through the COI and Golley Slater picked up Gold in the Public Health and Safety category, with his two films Autobahn (otherwise known as “Waiting to happen”) and Debris

Kim Gehrig meanwhile picked up a Silver in the Public Awareness Messages category, with her You are powerful film for Amnesty International and Mother London.
Kim also won an APA Young Directors Award (to add to her Shoot New Directors Award earlier this year).

And Corin Hardy, who recently directed The Prodigy’s much lauded video for their new track Warriors Dance as well as a film for the BBC’s Poetry Season, was included in this year’s Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase.

As a result of these awards and other nominations, Academy Films came 4th in this year’s Palme d’Or and was the highest ranked of all the UK production companies for 2009.
