Corin Hardy

From a young age, Corin developed a dark and distinctive visual flair for creating monsters, animations and Super-8 horror films in his work-shed, before gaining industry experience in art, costume, prop and special effects departments for film and theatre.

Hardy studied Theatre Design at Wimbledon School of Art before spending 5 years making his award-winning stop-motion BUTTERFLY which premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival to critical acclaim.

With a keen interest in music, signed to Academy Films, he directed cinematic promos for, amongst others, The Prodigy, Biffy Clyro, Keane, The Horrors, Paolo Nutini and Ed Sheeran, winning international awards for technical elegance, dark narratives and a sophisticated approach which frequently mixes live-action special fx, puppetry and animation. In 2011, Screen International selected Hardy as one of their ‘Stars Of Tomorrow.’

In 2015 Corin’s debut feature THE HALLOW launched at Sundance to international acclaim, taking home numerous awards including best horror film in Empire Film Awards, Best feature at Fantastic Fest, Strasbourg, and taking home 5 awards at the LA Scream Fest, including best director. Guillermo Del Toro described THE HALLOW as one of his favorite horror films of the year and shortly after its release, Corin was nominated as Best Debut Director at BIFA.

In 2018, Corin directed his second feature THE NUN for New Line and Warner Brothers. THE NUN went on to become the highest grossing film of the Conjuring franchise and 11th highest grossing horror movie of all time making $365.6m at the worldwide box office.

Corin became lead director, co-showrunner and executive producer of Season 2 of Sky/AMC+’s critically acclaimed action crime saga GANGS OF LONDON having directed half of the episodes in Season 1, which became Sky’s most binge-watched show of 2020.

In the feature space, Corin is currently developing projects at Netflix and Universal in 2023.
