Jonathan Glazer - Bio

Jonathan has been one of the world’s leading commercials and music video directors for a number of years now.

He first found fame for his revolutionary work on Radiohead’s ‘Street Spirit’ and Jamiroquai’s Multi-MTV award winning ‘Virtual Insanity’ video.

At the same time he directed ‘Protection’ for VW’s Polo campaign, which cemented his reputation as an exceptional visual storyteller.

There followed a string of further successes, including Guinness ‘Swimblack’, Stella Artois ‘Last Orders’ and the stunning Nike ‘Frozen Moment’ featuring Michael Jordan.

However he is perhaps best known in commercials for 1999′s ground-breaking Guinness ‘Surfer’ which picked up Gold at Cannes, 2 D&AD Black Pencils and the top spot at most of the other awards festivals that year and also recently named 'best ad of all time' by the Sunday Times.

Since then he has added films such as Guinness ‘Dreamclub’, Levis ‘Odyssey’, Wrangler ‘Ride’, Stella ‘Ice Skating Priests’ and Sony ‘Paint’ to his reel.

In 2000 he directed ‘Sexy Beast’, starring Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone, which was nominated for Best British Film at BAFTA, earned Ben Kingsley an Oscar nomination, and won all four top awards at BIFA.

In 2004 he wrote and directed ‘Birth’, featuring Nicole Kidman and Lauren Bacall.

His most recent work includes a light and sound installation at Coachella festival, a spot for VW featuring Argentina’s leading tango dancers, and a 3D film for Sony.

Although currently working on his 3rd feature, Jonathan is always very much on the look out for that next big creative opportunity.
