Seb Edwards

Biography

Seb Edwards

Seb had an early introduction to the film industry, starring in John Boorman’s ‘Hope & Glory’ at 8 years of age. Fast forward a few decades and he is one of the most in demand directors working in the industry today. His strong cinematic approach to storytelling creates work that is visually striking and emotionally engaging.

Seb has almost exclusively created award winning work for clients like Volkswagen, Nike, HTC, the COI, Vodafone, Luta, Adidas, the Red Cross and Barclays. His Hovis film won Golds at the British Arrows and his work for the COI led to 2 Gold Lions in Cannes, and recognition at many other shows that year.

Although he is one of Academy's busiest directors, Seb still found time to shoot an award winning short film, 'Friday' in 2011. The film picked up wins and 'official selection' at many of the major film festivals on the circuit.

Seb has directed two music videos to date - James Blake's reworking of Joni Mitchell's 'A Case of You' which stars Rebecca Hall, and 'Singularity' by Jon Hopkins which was released in September and won a VMA for Best Dance Video.

Films for Virgin Media, The Prince's Trust, Jagermeister, Barclays, Cartier, HP and two epics for Lacoste have kept Seb busy over the last few of years.

Seb was behind 'The Boy & the Piano', the 2018 addition to the John Lewis Christmas commercial canon.  The film stars Elton John, telling the story of his life, and  why the piano he was given as a kid was more than just a gift.
