British Arrows Craft Awards Nominations

Congratulations to Seb Edwards, Frederic Planchon, Jonathan Glazer and Si & Ad – a total of 10 nominations at the Craft Awards. Virgin Media ‘9.58’, SSE ‘Pier’, Channel 4 Idents ‘Detonation’,, Google Android ‘Monotune’ and O2 ‘Network’ are all shortlisted.

CANNES DEBRIEF

Academy directors had a quite remarkable showing in Cannes at this years ad festival. Two Grand Prix, Eight Gold, Eight Silver and Two Bronze for Martin De Thurah, Frederic Planchon, Wally Pfister and Jonathan Glazer.

Paddy Power directed by Peter Cattaneo

Peter Cattaneo has just finished up this lively spot for Paddy Power. Shot in the Scottish Highlands, it features The Krankies and Michelle McManus as they join a raucous crowd of Scots charging up the mountain as they sing, without a care in the world, about how they have failed to qualify for the Euro 2016 tournament, which kicks off in France later this Summer.

Success at D&AD

Congratulations to Academy’s directors, who between them won 19 D&AD Awards at last week’s show.

RBS directed by Conkerco

Ben & Chris’s latest for RBS aired on Friday and centres on a boy’s obsession with his favourite superhero; Bluehawk. Posters, bedspreads and action figures are all collected until, inevitably, the character gives way to the next craze.

Coors Light directed by Marcus Soderlund

Marcus has just finished another execution of the Coors campaign for VCCP starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Shot in Romania, the film shows the Muscles from Brussels being towed on his black slip-ons by a pack of huskies.

D&AD Nominations

Google Android 'Monotune' directed by Jonathan Glazer

This new piece from Mr Glazer, shot in a 1950s West Hollywood recording studio, and employing the prodigious talent of pianist Ji Yong Kim, is a beautifully executed illustration of Google Android’s current campaign line.

Academy directors had a good showing at the Superbowl the other night. Si & Ad’s new creation for Marmot, Comcast directed by Us, a new spot for Adobe by JC Chandor and films for Beats and Paypal both directed by Nabil.

British Arrows Craft Awards Success

It was another evening of success for Frederic Planchon as SSE ‘Maya’ picked up three Golds at the British Arrows Craft Awards for Animation, CGI and VFX.
